In 2018, Aaron Troutt became a pool service technician while being a full-time student at Collin County Community College. Soon after, he transferred to the University of North Texas with a basic knowledge of pools and an interest in marketing and operations management, which drew him to the world of pool sales and design.
Troutt landed a job with a boutique pool builder, where he learned about the intricacies of construction, sales and design, enabling him to craft detailed plans — an invaluable skill that would shape his future in the industry.
In August 2022, Troutt started at Pure Design, where he embraced challenges and the opportunity to learn something new every day. Troutt calls his move to Pure Design a “blessing.”
“These days, I spend my time analyzing designs and drawing plans to ensure my team executes the build to the quality that we strive for,” he says. “Through this, I have gained a new outlook on design and the overall construction of the details of a project, which I believe will make me a better designer in the future.”
What Troutt enjoys most about the pool industry is the daily dose of creativity it offers and the opportunities for a career.
“Other than enjoying my day-to-day work, I see a lot of room for improvement for myself,” he says. “In design and construction, it’s important to continue learning, as new processes and equipment are frequently being discovered. There is always a way to be better, which I use as motivation.”
