Aden Dunne - 2024 30 Under 40

Aden Dunne’s connection to the pool industry started long before he could imagine making it his career. Growing up in North County, San Diego, he spent summers helping his father with the family pool cleaning business.

“Growing up, I remember always helping out and riding around with my dad, cleaning pools after school and in the summer,” he says. “At the time, I planned to do something other than follow in his footsteps … I had always said I wasn’t going to be a pool man.”

But as it often does, fate had other plans. After living in Park City, Utah, for a few years, Dunne returned to San Diego and took the reins of his father’s business with a fresh perspective, eager to understand and master the trade. Within a year, his dedication paid off, and he bought the company from his father. Under his leadership, Classic Pools and Spas has flourished, expanding steadily and earning recognition in the industry.

Dunne’s career has been marked by several accolades, including being named Pool Guy of the Year by Pool Nation and winning IPSSA’s inaugural Pool Pro of Tomorrow award. His involvement extends beyond his company; he serves as a regional director for IPSSA and participates in various industry boards and committees. These roles have allowed him to influence the industry on a broader scale, shaping its direction and advocating for professional standards.

The pool industry has proven to be a fulfilling career choice for Dunne.

“Working in the pool industry allows for a unique blend of technical expertise, attention to detail and bringing satisfaction to our clients,” he says. “Whether it’s helping them brainstorm a full pool remodel, or just making suggestions on the latest, most efficient equipment or technological upgrades that can be made to their current pool equipment, being able to save them money and ensure they get the very best use out of their pool never stops bringing me joy.”

As he gains more experience and knowledge, Dunne is keen on expanding his business and fostering the next generation of pool professionals while elevating the industry.

“I would love to have the next generation of pool pros come into an industry well-known for the true importance and value in the skill set it takes to do what we do,” he says. “Having the honor of being on a couple of national-level boards and committees and voting on some of the things that can steer and impact the future of the pool industry has made me see things on a completely different level.”
