Brian Schoen started in the Haviland labeling room at 16 years old. It was a summer job that turned into several summers in that role, followed by transitions to maintenance and liquids. In college, Schoen worked at Haviland on school breaks, graduating with a teaching degree in 2010. That December, he was promoted to inventory analyst.

Schoen kept climbing, and several years later was promoted to inventory manager; two years after that, he became operations manager for the division. In 2019, he was promoted to director of operations and supply chain and last year was promoted again to senior director.

“My goal is to make Haviland a foremost leader in the industry,” Schoen says. “I want our company to be recognized as a leader in safety, quality and customer commitment. As a member of an employee stock ownership plan, I want to continue to make Haviland a place our employee-owners are proud to work. I grew up in this company. I want others to share in the pride that I have, not only for the company, but for the people who work for it.”
