Every Child a Swimmer Legislation Introduced in New York
Every Child a Swimmer, a division of the International Swimming Hall of Fame, has introduced legislation in New York that requires schools to inform parents about water safety and local swim lesson providers. Sen. Cordell Cleare introduced the bill to amend the education law on May 10, with the proposed act set to take effect on July 1, 2024.
The legislation was first passed in Florida in 2021, followed by Georgia and Arkansas in 2023. Every Child a Swimmer aims to pass similar legislation in all 50 states.
