After one week on the job, Ian Schatte was hooked. “I fell in love with the pool industry,” Schatte says. He joined Manning Pool Service in 2019, not long after completing his degree in marketing and public relations from the University of Houston. There was a lot of industry knowledge to learn, but Schatte poured himself into it, listening to industry podcasts, taking certification courses and doing ride-alongs with others at MPS. “My goal was to learn as much as I could and pass it along to our customers in an easy-to-understand format,” Schatte says.

His work managing the MPS website and newsletter has increased traffic 124% during his tenure — and all his studying became even more important during the winter storm that hit Texas in February.

“I was proud to pass on pool- and potentially life-saving information to greater Houston,” Schatte says. “Our clients were relieved, and many equipment pads were saved from certain destruction.”

As his role expands, Schatte believes he will be in the pool industry for life. “I look forward to the new challenges each day brings,” he says. “I am happy to work for my friends at a family business I love.”
