Josh DeRoche
Josh DeRoche became a certified systems engineer at 17 years old, while still in high school. In 2015, he purchased 20% of his father’s small pool service company, Pool-Aid, as an investment. Three years later, in January 2018, DeRoche stepped in as president of Pool-Aid. In just two years, DeRoche has taken Pool-Aid from a small service route to over 250 weekly service contracts and seven trucks on the road, while being one of the highest-priced servicers in the area. “This was not an easy thing to do, but we trust that good, honest work will bring us to our success,” he says.
DeRoche says he applied the same work ethic and processes from his previous industry to this company, which he believes has raised the bar for pool service in the region. He went through several classes and exams to become an engineer “and now, where we are with this company, I don’t regret one day.”
DeRoche hopes to make a significant impact on the industry. He wants to increase licensing and education, and desires to eventually offer free in- person mentoring and guidance to companies around the country and world.
“I truly enjoy helping people, whether it is customers, fellow companies or coworkers,” DeRoche says. “I believe this is why I have always favored the service-based industries. I am only 24 now and have been around for such a short time. But I will continue to expand my knowledge, so that I can in any way give back to the pool community. It has been a true goal and dream of mine to make such a small list of eager, driven and talented like-minded folks like me.”
