Moses Campos, 38

Before Moses Campos worked as a start-up technician and weekly maintenance tech at Southernwind Pools in McKinney, Texas, he was a graphic designer for small companies and ad agencies in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. With this background, the idea of creating backyard spaces appealed to him. After his hard work was noticed, he was moved into a design role within his first year. Campos learned construction practices and Pool Studio under the guidance of the general manager, who valued his creative vision. This opportunity allowed him to excel in sales, where his innovative approach and attention to detail propelled him to become a top salesperson.
“My success came from taking lessons from those older voices and — with a fresh look — helping their lessons apply to my clients’ needs,” Campos says.
After years of success at Southernwind, Campos sought new growth and found it with Claffey Pools. Since joining the company two years ago, he’s continued to thrive as a designer, earning his Certified Building Professional certification in 2023.
Campos says the creative aspect of pool design is often underappreciated.
“One of my favorite things has been finding the creative approach in more than just what materials to use — showing clients how to think outside the box with something as simple as how to place a skimmer on a drop beam or make a small space feel bigger,” he says.
Campos plans to pursue further education through programs like GENESIS and Watershape University while leveraging social media to grow his network of referrals. He hopes to leave a lasting mark on the industry by fostering collaboration across all roles in the building process and building meaningful relationships with other designers, elevating the industry as a whole.
“I want to see [a collaborative approach] help the homeowner have the best possible experience,” he says.
