Thursday Pools expands, receives grant
Thursday Pools, manufacturer of fiberglass pools, is in the final stages of construction on an additional 50,000 square feet of space to provide a climate-controlled, environmentally friendly facility for its growing manufacturing operation in Indiana. This follows two previous expansions in 2018 and 2019. Additionally, the facility has expanded its outdoor pool-loading area to facilitate faster, more efficient shipping of its pools across the U.S. and Canada. This expansion gives the company over 12 acres of dedicated pool storage space.
The expansion will more than triple the company’s production and storage space and includes a dedicated manufacturing area to produce shells for the company’s sunken living area pools and new smaller sized pools and spas. It will also help ensure faster turnaround.
“This has certainly been an adventure,” says Bill Khamis, Thursday Pools CFO. “We opened our doors in 2010 and have added onto our facility twice already, and we’re still growing very rapidly. This is just the next step for us to support our dealers and meet the exponential demand for fiberglass pools.”
Additionally, Thursday Pools was recently awarded $25,000 from the Indiana Department of Environmental Management because of the pollution prevention system the company is developing at its manufacturing facility. Specifically, Thursday Pools has designed a gel coat gantry robot, which automatically sprays gel and barrier coat on its fiberglass pools, reducing emissions and improving quality.
“We are very pleased to have been awarded the grant since it helps offset some of the costs associated with the installation and training,” Khamis says. “We appreciate being supported and recognized by the state of Indiana for our environmental stewardship initiatives.”
