Trucking Company Yellow Ceases Operations, to File for Bankruptcy

On July 31, trucking company Yellow — formerly known as YRC Worldwide — announced its plan to file for bankruptcy. The announcement follows a period of financial instability, layoffs and operation shutdowns for the company. 

Yellow is one of the nation’s largest less-than-truckload carriers, allowing multiple shippers to share one truck. 

Yellow’s bankruptcy decision could affect the hot tub and swimming pool industry’s supply chain as many manufacturers and retailers have used Yellow’s freight services. The company has traditionally had some of the lowest carrier prices on the market, so customers may be faced with higher costs when choosing a new carrier.
